The Kyrgyz Republic will continue its purposeful and multifaceted foreign policy aimed at strengthening the state sovereignty and independence, protection of territorial integrity, security, defense capability, economic development of the country and protection of rights of Kyrgyzstanis abroad. The National Development Program of the country until 2026 says.
Particular attention will be paid to addressing the tasks and challenges that the country faced after the October events of 2020 and the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on public health, the economy and other areas of life of the state.
The country’s foreign policy course will not change and will remain consistent, predictable and pragmatic.
The Cabinet promises to step up the foreign policy work to promote national interests in international cooperation through multilateral and bilateral diplomacy.
«A positive foreign policy image of the country will be actively promoted. The country’s participation in the work of 124 international organizations and integration associations (UN, EAEU, CIS, CSTO, SCO, OTS, OSCE and others) will be provided on a qualitatively new level in order to implement foreign policy priorities,» the officials promise.
The program also notes that project cooperation will be expanded with the UN to achieve national goals of sustainable development, the completion of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, adaptation to climate change.
Cooperation with 165 foreign countries will continue in accordance with the universally recognized principles of interstate relations and international law enshrined in the UN Charter, and with full consideration of existing mutual obligations in bilateral and multilateral formats.
Diplomatic relations will be established with new countries. However, they are not named.
The foreign policy priority is the strengthening and development of comprehensive cooperation in the spirit of good neighborliness with Central Asian countries, strategic allies and partners in the CSTO and the EAEU.
Negotiations with neighboring states will be continued in order to complete delimitation and demarcation of state borders, to create space of indivisible security and to restore atmosphere of trust in the Central Asian region.
Cooperation with the countries of Asia, the Arab East, America, Europe and the European Union will be systematically developed with an emphasis on foreign trade cooperation, attracting grants, direct investments and tourists. Economic diplomacy will also be aimed at improving and providing access of domestic producers to foreign markets.
