Former president of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev arrived in Bishkek because of the case on Kumtor. The former chief of staff of the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, associate of Askar Akayev, Bekbolot Talgarbekov, told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the former head of state will stay in the country for 2-3 days.
«Nobody summoned him for interrogation. He himself came to complete the work on Kumtor, because he did not have enough time last time. He will not go to his birthplace in Kemin, since he has already visited it. He will go to the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) tomorrow,» Bekbolot Talgarbekov noted.
The plane from Moscow landed at the Manas airport today at 4.40 a.m. Askar Akayev arrived together with his son Ilim.
Askar Akayev already came to Kyrgyzstan in August. After interrogation at the SCNS, the former president entered into a plea bargain and made a confession. Within few days of his visit, Askar Akayev managed to visit his birthplace in Kemin district and his mother-in-law in Talas.
