The best athletes of the year were awarded in the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic Hall named after Toktogul Satylganov, Cabinet of Ministers reports.
The Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic Suyunbek Kasmambetov and the Minister of Culture Azamat Zhamankulov attended the event.
Founder of Sports Awards 2021 was awarded the title «High achiever of physical culture and sports of the Kyrgyz Republic» for his contribution to the development of physical culture and sports. Eduard Kubatov, who conquered the peak of Mount Everest, was awarded a special prize. Entrepreneur Sharshenbek Abdykerimov, who headed the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Wrestling Federation for many years, received the Best Patron award.
Greco-Roman wrestler, silver medalist Akzhol Makhmudov and two-time world freestyle wrestling champion Aisuluu Tynybekova were named the best athletes of the year.
The best coaches of the athletes, Ulakchi and patrons of the athletes were also awarded.
At the opening of the event Suyunbek Kasmambetov expressed his gratitude to the athletes who perform at international competitions on behalf of Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized that many athletes, including weightlifter Kanybek Osmonaliev and boxer Orzubek Nazarov, made the republic famous. He reminded that Kyrgyz athletes have won 400 medals in various sports in one year alone.
«I pay tribute to you. Many thanks to you for your hard work,» the Secretary of State said and wished them health, well-being and success.
