The second Eurasian Congress will take place in Moscow today. It is organized by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) with the support of the Russian government.
Its participants will discuss increasing role of business, development institutions and public-private partnership in unlocking the potential of EAEU +, key infrastructural interstate projects in transport and logistics, the water and energy complex, in the field of food security, priority issues in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, mechanisms of «green» financing and ESG projects, digital transformation of the states.
The Head of the Russian Government, Mikhail Mishustin, confirmed his participation in the event. The deputy heads of government of the EAEU member states will attend the plenary session «Key investment projects — systemic drivers of economic growth in the Eurasian Economic Union». Special attention will be paid to interstate projects in transport and logistics, the water-energy complex, as well as in the field of ensuring food security, sustainable development and combating global climate change. The Deputy Prime Minister Arzybek Kozhoshev will participate in this session from Kyrgyzstan.
The Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways JSC Oleg Belozerov, Chairman of the State Development Corporation VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov, President — Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank Andrey Kostin, General Director of Yandex Elena Bunina, President of Global Energy Association Sergey Brilev, General Director of DSK Autoban JSC Alexey Andreev will address the Congress.
A separate session will be devoted to the effective development of the water and energy complex in Central Asia. According to EDB estimates, insufficiently efficient use of resources available in the region leads to annual damage and unused economic benefits in the amount of up to 1.5 percent of regional GDP. The water sector accounts for about 40 percent of GDP losses and the power industry — for 60 percent.
