One of killers of Medet Sadyrkulov detained in Bishkek

Sanzhar Saparbekov, a suspect in the murder of ex-presidential chief of staff Medet Sadyrkulov, was detained in Bishkek. Own sources told 24.kg news agency.

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained the suspect. At the same time, Sanzhar Saparbekov was not taken into custody.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not confirm, but did not refute this information either.

The former presidential chief of staff Medet Sadyrkulov, the former director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies Sergei Slepchenko and a driver Kubat Sulaimanov died in a traffic accident on March 13, 2009 in the suburbs of Bishkek. Omurbek Osmonov, an unemployed native of Osh region, was accused of the fatal road accident. The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison in a penal settlement.

Omurbek Osmonov was killed after the April 2010 events. His body was found in one of the new-built quarters near Bishkek. An unknown person stabbed him 11 times.

This brutal triple murder was solved only after the Bakievs clan was overthrown.

According to the investigators, Medet Sadyrkulov’s car passed the border post and was stopped by employees of the Traffic Safety Department and the Main Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The passengers were taken to a summer house of Kurmanbek Temirbaev, the former head of the Department of Presidential Affairs of Bakiev, where they were killed and a traffic accident was simulated.

Being the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Melis Turganbaev reported in 2011 that 26 suspects were involved in the case, 17 people were detained.

The murder was reportedly ordered by Kurmanbek Bakiev’s brother Zhanysh Bakiev.
