Bishkek hosts meeting-requiem in memory of 28 Panfilov heroes

A meeting-requiem in memory of 28 Panfilov heroes and their commander Major General Ivan Panfilov was held in Bishkek. At least 80 years have passed since their legendary feat, when, during hours-long battle, they destroyed 18 enemy tanks and stopped the fascist offensive.

According to the Russian House in Bishkek, the curator of youth and volunteer projects Baira Buvaeva, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the capital Marat Kutanov, coordinator of Victory Volunteers movement Anastasia Shevchenko made their welcoming speeches.

The flower-laying ceremony was held with the participation of the personnel of the military unit 73809 of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic. The youngest participants of the commemorative event recited poems about the immortal feat of the 28 Panfilov heroes.

The event took place on the territory of the school number 6. It has been named after Ivan Panfilov on November 27, 1941.
