Ban on export of wheat and flour proposed in Kyrgyzstan

It is proposed to impose a temporary ban for the export of wheat and wheat flour from Kyrgyzstan for a period of six months. The Ministry of Economy came up with such an initiative.

The ministry notes that the dynamics of import of flour shows an increase. The main share is imports from Kazakhstan. At the same time, since October 2019, there has been an increase in prices for wheat and flour, followed by bread prices. This situation occurred due to a rise in the price of imported wheat of the third class, which reached almost $ 20 per ton for 3 months.

A 14 percent decline in wheat yield was registered in Kazakhstan with an increase in deliveries to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

«Given these factors, as well as prevailing prices for flour in Kyrgyzstan, it is proposed to impose a temporary ban,» the Ministry of Economy concluded.
