Bekbolot Talgarbekov demands official apologies and money from ex-president

Released politician Bekbolot Talgarbekov filed a lawsuit on the protection of his honor and dignity. His son Arstan confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.

The defendant is the ex-president Almazbek Atambayev. Earlier it became known that Bekbolot Talgarbekov intends to collect 17 million soms through court, since the prosecutors requested such a term of imprisonment. Moreover, the plaintiff demands an official apology from the former head of state for the deliberately false statement and slander.

The plaintiff is outraged that Almazbek Atambayev said more than once that his opponents (Bekbolot Talgarbekov and his supporters), using FSB generals, want to organize a coup d’état.

He added that they simply collaborated with the Russian generals to investigate the June 2010 events.

Bekbolot Talgarbekov, convicted for attempt to forcibly seize power, was released from prison on March 7. Alamedin District Court decided on his release on parole.

In May 2016, the State Committee for National Security opened a criminal case against members of the «People’s Parliament» association.

Bekbolot Talgarbekov and Tolubai Kolubaev were sentenced to 14 years in prison colony with strengthened security regime, Marat Sultanov — to ten years, Toigonbek Kalmatov — to five years (suspended sentence), Alexander Gusev — to six years (suspended sentence).
