Head of OSCE praises Kyrgyzstan

President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov met with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak. The Information Policy Department of the head of state reported.

The parties discussed issues of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Slovakia.

The head of state, welcoming Miroslav Lajcak, congratulated the entire Slovak people on the election of the new President Zuzana Caputova.

«Slovakia showed the highest example of democratic elections, we wish further success to your president and the country. We are ready for the comprehensive development and deepening of bilateral relations,» Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed.

The head of state noted that from the first days of independence, Kyrgyzstan felt the continued support and assistance of the OSCE, especially in the development of the electoral process and freedom of speech. He dwelled on the activities of the OSCE Academy, calling it a unique project, which should continue to deepen and expand.

We are firmly committed to the democratic path of development of the country, strengthening parliamentary democracy, conducting a tough fight against corruption, protecting human rights and freedoms, as well as freedom of speech. We are resolute in the conducting of democratic, fair, open parliamentary elections in 2020.

He added that the country was interested in interacting with the ODIHR for the success of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The OSCE Chairperson stressed that there was a very favorable situation in Kyrgyzstan, which has chosen the path of parliamentary democracy. «The OSCE is your partner and friend on whom you can rely and who is always ready to share experience, provide the necessary assistance. You have chosen the right path — the most successful countries are those who have chosen the path of parliamentary democracy,» Miroslav Lajcak said.

In conclusion, the head of state stressed that Kyrgyzstan did not intend to reduce the level of interaction with the OSCE.
