132 prefabricated houses granted to Kyrgyzstan

Prefabricated houses will be handed over to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan for installation during emergency situations. The Red Crescent Society reported.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will grant 132 sets of prefabricated houses to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic for €143,700.

Including 72 sets worth €78,000 will be handed over to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and 60 sets worth €35,700 to the Red Crescent Society. UNHCR specialists will teach representatives of the Emergencies Ministry and the Red Crescent Society how to assemble these houses.

«Today, prefabricated housing structures are used by UNHCR and its partners around the world, mainly during emergency situations. They are spacious, durable and waterproof and provide 17.5 square meters of living space and are equipped with the most necessary: windows for ventilation, a LED lamp and solar panels that can be used to charge electronic devices, including mobile phones. Each prefab house can be quickly and easily assembled by a team of four people in a few hours,» the Red Crescent Society said.

The prefabricated housing structures will be used in case of natural disasters and emergencies in Kyrgyzstan. In addition to the main purpose — temporary accommodation for people in emergency situations — prefabricated houses can also be used as temporary first-aid stations, premises for field staff, educational centers or warehouses.
