Nominees for Nika award of the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Science were announced in Moscow. Website of the award says.
Munabiya film by Taalaibek Kulmendeev was nominated in the category «Best Film of the CIS and Baltic Сountries.»
The movie will compete with the films Crystal by a Belarusian Darya Zhuk, Berlin-Akkurgan by an Uzbek film director Zulfikar Musakov, Affectionate Indifference of the World by a Kazakhstani Adilkhan Erzhanov and Beautiful Corruption by Evgeny Damaskin (Moldova).
Winners will be awarded in Moscow on March 30. Nika is the national film award of Russia. This year it will be awarded for the 32nd time.
Munabiya is a love story of Kyrgyz Romeo and Juliet, although the heroes are not young lovers, but persons of ripe years. Kazat Akmatov’s novel was awarded by the literary public of Kyrgyzstan in the late 1970s as the Best Work of the Year.
