Bishkek City Administration plans to purchase hybrid trolleybuses that run on accumulators. Vice Mayor of Bishkek Maxim Sitnikov informed 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the issue of purchase of trolleybuses with the Asian Development Bank is being worked out.
«We want to purchase a part of trolleybuses with autonomous course batteries, which will provide an opportunity to travel up to 15 kilometers without contact lines. This will allow to open routes in places without lines,» Maxim Sitnikov said.
According to him, it is planned to implement the project by the end of 2019 if the city administration concludes an agreement by the end of spring.
In 2018, Bishkek received 52 new trolleybuses purchased for a loan and a grant from EBRD.
In 2019, the city administration will acquire 69 new buses that run on gas (methane). Chinese corporation Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. Ltd won the tender for their delivery.
