Ex-speaker Akhmatbek Keldibekov sues another media

Former speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Akhmatbek Keldibekov sued another Kyrgyz-language media — Argument.kg. Civil activist Adil Turdukulov told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the former speaker demands from the media 1 million soms for a publication, which, he believes, denigrates his honor and dignity. The Editor-in-Chief of the information portal, Temirlan Bekbotoyev, explained 24.kg news agency that the journalist of the media outlet indicated in an article that Akhmatbek Keldibekov had been convicted, had pleaded guilty and had paid 10 million soms fine.

«I do not understand the essence of the claim of the plaintiff. It’s a fact, he was really convicted and removed his conviction by paying the fine. But Akhmatbek Keldibekov demanded first to remove the material, and when we refused, he went to court. The article was sent for linguistic expertise,» Temirlan Bekbotoyev said.

Akhmatbek Keldibekov’s lawyer, Gulya Ryskulova, stated that the plaintiff was trying to resolve the matter, but the representatives of the media did not appear in court.

Akhmatbek Keldibekov has already won a payout of 2 million soms against journalists from Asia News. It became known yesterday that the politician was suing another media — Kyrgyztoday. He also demands to recover a million from it. In addition, the former speaker is starting a lawsuit with the former president Almazbek Atambayev.
