As of June 1, Kyrgyzstan had 640,000 pensioners, or 10 percent of the total population. The First Deputy Chairwoman of the Social Fund Gulnura Dzhumataeva told today at an international conference.
According to her, for five months of 2018, the number of pensioners increased by 6,000. At the same time, the average size of a pension for the past eight years has doubled. Today, the average pension is 23 percent higher than the minimum subsistence rate of a pensioner.
At least 62 percent of pensioners receive a pension that is higher than the subsistence minimum.
«At the end of 2017, investment part of the pension amounted to more than 14 billion soms, or 2.6 percent of GDP, including 9 billion of them — insurance premiums, and 5.5 billion soms — investment income. Investment part of the pensions is invested in government securities and transferred to the deposits of commercial banks,» Gulnura Dzhumataeva stressed.
As a result of the first quarter of 2018, the minimum subsistence rate of a pensioner in Kyrgyzstan was 4,365.76 soms.
