No pension to be paid to Kyrgyzstanis with less than 5 years of work experience

Kyrgyzstanis, who have not worked for at least five years, will be left without a pension. The Chairman of the Social Fund Baktiyar Aliev announced at a briefing.

He recalled that pensions in Kyrgyzstan have been increased from October 1. They should not be lower than 6,900 soms.

«From October 1, all assigned pensions will not be lower than 6,900 soms. The minimum work experience has been reduced to five years. I note that as part of the reforms it includes: service in the armed forces for men, for women, previously only 2 children were taken into account, another one was added. Now we take 9 years for length of service, higher education — five more years,» he said.

But those who do not have the minimum work experience will receive an old-age benefit.

«It is provided from the republican budget by the Ministry of Labor in the amount of 2,000 soms. This is for those, who do not have a general work experience. » I cannot say whether it will be increased or not," he said.

Baktiyar Aliev added that a pension is assigned only upon reaching retirement age — for women it is 58 years old, for men — 63 years old.

«That is, if there is only a minimum length of service, this does not mean that a person can retire immediately. Upon reaching retirement age only,» he added.

On June 28, the President signed the Decree «On measures to index pensions assigned in accordance with the Law «On State Pension Social Insurance» from October 1, 2024, and the effective use of funds from the republican budget.»

Pensions in 2024 were increased in two stages. At the first, from July 1, the size of the basic pension was increased for those, who received below the established rate of 3,170 soms. From October 1, the insurance part of pensions was increased by 18 percent, but not less than by 1,000 soms. Now the minimum pension cannot be less than 6,900 soms.
