Kazakhstan is ready for discharge of water from Kirov reservoir. Official representative of the Committee for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Ruslan Imankulov told.
According to him, Kazakhstan had earlier been informed about the forthcoming repair work at Kirov reservoir, located in Talas region of Kyrgyzstan.
Ruslan Imankulov noted the readiness of the Kazakh side to take additional water.
«Kazakhstan’s duty officers keep their fingers on the pulse. There were no discharges so far. They are planned for today. Additional time will be reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan. We keep in touch with their services on duty,» Ruslan Imankulov said.
According to Shu-Talas Basin Inspection, as of today Kirov reservoir is filled with 19 million cubic meters of water. The total volume of the reservoir is 550 million cubic meters. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan previously reported about plans to begin water discharge from October 18 to carry out reconstruction at the reservoir dam. The reservoir is located between Manas and Kara-Buura areas a few dozen kilometers away from the border with Kazakhstan.
