Improvement of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations forecasted in December 2017

«The problems of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan can drag on until December,» Kazakhstan’s political analyst Islam Kuraev told 24.kg news agency commenting on the results of the presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, the results of the voting were quite expected, while the probability of a second round was preserved. But in the end, the elections showed more than a confident victory of the candidate from the ruling party. The political scientist is sure that the political technologists of Sooronbai Jeenbekov have done their work at the proper level.

«No matter how offensive it sounds for the people of Kyrgyzstan, but there is an electoral division now. Opinion of the population is ambiguous. There is tension and discontent in society. The state administration should direct all its forces at the consolidation of society. If you do not take this fact into account, then it can cost much in the long term for the country,» commented Islam Kuraev.

The expert is convinced that the political course of Kyrgyzstan under Sooronbai Jeenbekov will not change, because he will continue the policy of Almazbek Atambayev.

Islam Kuraev did not rule out the possibility that the incumbent president will later take over the post of prime minister of the country, which will give him additional opportunities for political maneuvers.

"The relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan has become much more complicated. I’m not sure that the situation will stabilize in the near future. I think that the current problems can drag on until December this year. Sooronbai Jeenbekov is a good executive. But he has not yet shown himself as a charismatic leader or diplomat. It is necessary to monitor the situation. Everything is in limbo so far, although we saw Jeenbekov’s speech, in which he already mentioned Kazakhstan and Nursultan Abishevich. In fact, this does not say anything, "Islam Kuraev concluded.
