The Central Election Commission for Elections and Referenda completed the registration of presidential candidates. For the presidency will fight 13 people.
Arstanbek Abdyldaev
Self-nominee, 49 years old. A native of At-Bashinsky district of Naryn oblast. Fame came in 2011 due to the phrase «Winter will not be!». He called Kyrgyzstan the energy center of the Earth, and Vladimir Putin — a complex biorobot. In 2011, he ran for presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic. He has a secondary vocational education. At present he is the director of «Auyardin» LLC.
Omurbek Babanov
Self-nominee, 47 years old. He was born in the Kara-Buurinsky district of the Talas oblast. He has a higher education, graduated from the Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy, the Russian Academy of National Economy, the Kyrgyz State Academy of Law. From December 2011 to September 2012 he was the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2014 he merged with Kamchybek Tashiev, creating a new party. Currently, he heads the parliamentary faction «Respublika — Ata Jurt».
Azimbek Beknazarov
Self-nominee, 60 years old. A native of Kara-Suu village of Jalal-Abad oblast. He is known as the «bulldozer of the revolution» for actively participating in the revolutions of 2005 and 2010. He was the Attorney General. Has a higher legal education. Currently he works as a private lawyer. On the eve of became an involvant in the criminal case, he is accused of giving false testimony in court.
Sooronbai Jeenbekov
Nominated by SDPK party, 58 years. A native of the village of Kara-Kuldzha in Osh oblast. He graduated from the Kyrgyz Agricultural Institute with a degree in livestock engineer, accountant. He worked on the collective farm as a livestock specialist. Recently he headed the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan. The Jeenbekovs clan is called the most influential in the south of Kyrgyzstan. He is a close friend of President Almazbek Atambayev.
Ernis Zarlykov
Self-nominee, 50 years old. He graduated from the economic faculty of the Kyrgyz National University named after Zh. Balasagyn. Prior to voting, he was the first deputy mayor of Bishkek. He barely scored the required score for knowledge of the Kyrgyz language — 60.16. In open sources there is no information about the place of his birth.
Ulukbek Kochkorov
Self-nominee, 43 years old. He was born in the village of Kara-Bak, Batken oblast. Earlier, he was a deputy of the V convocation of the parliament. Has a higher economic and legal education. Currently doesn’t work.
Adakhan Madumarov
Nominated by «Butun Kyrgyzstan» party, which he heads, 52 years. He was born in the village of Kurshab, Uzgen district, Osh oblast. He graduated from Tver State University and the Kyrgyz National University named after Zh. Balasagyn. He was a deputy of the parliament for three convocations. He knows five languages. He showed the best result among all applicants for the language test — 96.77 points.
Arslanbek Maliyev
Self-nominee, 59 years. A native of Jalal-Abad. He graduated from the Kharkov Institute of Public Catering. Leader of «Aalam» political party. In 2011, he ran for the presidency of Kyrgyzstan, but failed the exam in the state language. He was a deputy of the parliament. Recently he is the president of the Union of Kyrgyz Societies of Friendship and Cooperation with Foreign Countries.
Taalatbek Masadykov
Self-nominee, 56 years old. He was born in the village of Besh-Kungei, Chui region. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of International Relations. He is a consultant on international relations. He heads the public organization «Generals of the world — for peace». For more than 12 years he has been dealing with issues of international terrorism, drugs, conflict prevention in the Central Asian region and the Middle East.
Temir Sariev
Nominated by «Akshumkar» party, 54 years. He was born in the village of Tosh-Bulak, Sokuluk district, Chui oblast. He has a higher economic education. The last place of work is the design institute of Kyrgyzgiprostroy OJSC, but is better known as the former minister of economy and the prime minister of Kyrgyzstan.
Kamchybek Tashiev
Nominated by «Ata Jurt» party, 48 years. He was born in the village of Barpy, Suzak district, Jalal-Abad oblast. He graduated from Tomsk Polytechnic University, the Kyrgyz National University named after Zh. Balasagyn. In 2007 he was appointed Minister of Emergency Situations. Two years later he resigned because of disagreements with Prime Minister Daniyar Usenov. In 2011, he ran for presidency, but lost the elections. As a deputy of the parliament, he advocated the nationalization of Kumtor. Famous for jumping over the fence of the White House. He was convicted under the article «Attempt to seize power by force», but received a suspended sentence. The conviction removed.
Bakyt Torobayev
Nominated by «Onuguu-Progress» party, 44 years. He was born in Jalal-Abad. He began his labor activity in a private milling business. Later he became a deputy, and after a while he headed the Ministry for Emergency Situations. At present he is the leader of the parliamentary faction «Onuguu-Progress». Famous for the pre-election campaign to the parliament, when his supporters hung light bulbs in yards and entrances of Bishkek. Has a higher education.
Toktaiym Umetalieva
Self-nomine, 55 years old. She was born in the village Leninpol of Talas oblast. Has a higher education, specializing in physics. The only female candidate. Is running for presidency for the fourth time. Chairman of the Association of NGOs, editor in chief of the editorial office of the children’s and teenage newspaper «Ai-Danek». Acted for the renaming of the capital in the city of Manas.
It should be noted that the list of candidates is not final, as some candidates — Akhmatbek Keldibekov, Tursunbek Akun and Iskhak Masaliyev — intend to sue the CEC because of the refusal to register. Their further fate will be decided by Themis.
In addition, it is possible that one of the devil’s dozen can change his mind and withdraw from the election. They still have such an opportunity.
