Almost half million tons of wheat harvested in Kyrgyzstan

Almost half a million tons of wheat harvested in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Melioration and Food Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic reported to 24.kg news agency.

According to it, on August 18, 478,400 tons of wheat harvested at 176,900 ha of the available 250,000.

It is reported that wheat was sown the most in the Chui oblast — 99,900 ha, the least — in the Talas oblast — 5,800. In comparison with the same period in 2016, wheat harvested by 19,200 tons more.

According to the ministry, in 2016 the republic’s need for wheat was 706,800 tons. The average yield was 27 centners per hectare. For comparison, this figure in Ukraine in 2016 — 38 centners, in Canada — 29.

As the ministry noted, because of the unprofitable area of sowing wheat in 2017 reduced, so because of the low quality of gluten, producers mainly use flour produced in Kazakhstan.
