International cycling marathon for blind participants to end in Issyk-Kul region

The first international cycling marathon will be held within the framework of the project «Sport without Borders!» on the route Almaty-Bishkek-Issyk-Kul. Kazakh media reported.

According to them, a team from Kazakhstan, consisting of 18 visually impaired and blind cyclists, accompanied by pilots, a support group and the Traffic Police Service, will cover about 500 kilometers by bicycles for 5 days.

The goal of the cycling marathon is to improve the infrastructure of social ecotourism, promote socialization and fulfill the potential of people with disabilities, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

As a result of the marathon, blind athletes will develop an online map of the route for people with special needs who want to travel to Issyk-Kul, develop recommendations for parliaments and governments of the two countries on the needs of people with disabilities and create conditions for the rehabilitation of disabled people in the context of the development of social tourism.
