Kyrgyzstan consumes more electricity than Russia and Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan consumes more electricity than Russia and Kazakhstan. This is stated in the World Bank report.

It is noted that from 2007 to 2016, household electricity consumption increased by 58 percent. At the same time, the growth in the number of subscribers amounted only to 12 percent.

The seasonal structure of consumption and the rapid increase in the load on the network are serious problems for the power grid. A high level of consumption is caused by low energy efficiency of buildings and insufficient price incentives. The growth of seasonal consumption only worsens the reliability of supply and the quality of service. On the basis of this, Kyrgyzstan is forced to import electricity from neighboring countries.
