Kara-Kuldzha bridge opened by Asylbek Jeenbekov collapses

Bridge that was opened by the ex-speaker of Kyrgyzstan's Parliament Asylbek Jeenbekov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain Robin Ord-Smith to Kyrgyzstan collapsed in Kara-Kuldzha. Information about the incident was confirmed in the administration of Osh region.

According to its data, the bridge across Kok-Zhar River in Birinchi village of Kara-Kuldzha district collapsed as a result of mudflows. It has been commissioned only a year ago.

The construction of the bridge cost 8, 939 million soms, 6,219 million of which were allocated by donors, the contribution of the local community was 2, 720 million soms.

A year ago, Asylbek Jeenbekov, who was ordinary MP, Ambassador of the UK to the Kyrgyz Republic Robin Ord-Smith, the head of programs and management of the representative office of the Aga Khan Development Agency in Kyrgyzstan, Altaaf Hasham, took part in the opening ceremony.
