Every year, 3–4 Kyrgyz women die during abortions or from complications after them. Representatives of the Ministry of Health announced this today at a round table on family planning.
«Official statistics don’t always reliably reflect the true number of interruptions of pregnancies. Most of the abortions are safe (aspiration, medication). More often the pregnancy is interrupted on medical grounds," the meeting participants said.
It was also noted that
In 2016, 48 women died in Kyrgyzstan during childbirth, pregnancy and the post-natal period.
Family planning can reduce maternal mortality, unplanned pregnancy in adolescent girls, prevent HIV infection.
