The works on reconstruction and modernization of the hydropower plant are divided into three parts and will be completed in 2023. The General Director of ES JSC Taalaybek Tolubaev told at the visiting session of the parliamentary commission on the fuel and energy complex at the Toktogul hydropower station.
According to him, there is the first phase — replacement of cables and transformers now.
«About $55 million are planned to be spent on it. The first part of the works will be completed before July," he said.
Taalaybek Tolubaev said that the second phase of the work would begin on June 2, and it would be completed in November 2017. $ 210 million is provided for these works ($ 100 million were allocated by the Eurasian Development Bank, $ 110 — by the Asian Development Bank).
This money will be spent on the replacement of the units and the main transformer. A Chinese company won the tender for the purchase of the transformer, and South Korean company- for the purchase of the cables.
The third, final phase of the work will require $ 150 million. We need to add $ 25 million from our own funds.
