Employees of Bishkek Heating and Power Plant are getting ready for a testing launch of the second unit as part of the modernization project. Chairman of the board of National Energy Holding Company JSC Aibek Kaliev told today at a press conference.
According to him, tests were conducted in the framework of the modernization of the Bishkek HPP on March 6. The first unit was put into operation and it reached a nominal power capacity of 150 megawatts. It has worked for 72 hours and is stopped now. Currently, preparations for test launch of the second unit are underway.
Aibek Kaliev dispelled fears that damage to the environment would be caused because of the refusal to use natural gas and increase in the amount of coal used.
This is new equipment, there are special filters. We do not think that switch to coal after the completion of the Bishkek HPP modernization project will cause environmental problems.

«During the tests of the first unit, we realized that it works more economically. There is economic feasibility from the introduction of new equipment. We can talk about some specific figures in the next year, when we will pass the heating season using new equipment," Aibek Kaliev said.
