Grain crops in Kyrgyzstan in 2016 decreased by 13,000 ha, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Land Reclamation Nurbek Murashev said at a meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Environment and Regional Development of the Parliament.

According to him, «this is due to the fact that many farmers don’t get the required amount of the harvest." «We offer to switch to other crops, such as fruit cultivation," the Minister said.

«Our country receives up to 300–400,000 tons of grain from the neighboring republics, about 1.1 million tons we produce by ourselves, 1.9 million tons are needed. The country won’t be able to provide itself with grain," Nurbek Murashev said.
