On June 25, during a working visit to Jalal-Abad region, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov participated in the official capsule laying ceremony at the construction site of Kazarman Cascade of Hydropower Plants in Toguz-Toro district. The presidential press service reported.
In his speech, he noted that the Kazarman HPP Cascade will be one of the largest energy projects in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan.
The project provides for the construction of three hydroelectric power plants—Ala-Buga, Kara-Bulun-1, and Kara-Bulun-2—with a total installed capacity of 912 megawatts. The cascade’s average annual electricity generation will exceed 3.75 billion kilowatt-hours. The total investment volume will be approximately $3 billion. The project is being implemented under an investment agreement with Orto Asia Investment Holding, an open joint-stock company.
He reported that approximately 50 small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants have been built in the country over the past five years. Construction of approximately 50 more hydroelectric power plants is currently underway. In addition, projects to build solar and wind power plants are being implemented.
The President noted that the Kazarman HPP Cascade is scheduled for completion by 2031. Once this facility is commissioned, along with the completion of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, Kyrgyzstan will be able to fully meet its own electricity needs and also become an exporting country, supplying electricity to neighboring countries.
