UK is invited to open universities in Kyrgyzstan

Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Marlen Mamataliev met with British Ambassador Nicholas Bowler.

The two sides discussed the development of political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as strengthening interparliamentary ties.

Mamataliev proposed intensifying work of parliamentary friendship groups and establishing direct interaction between the parliamentary offices of the two countries. He also emphasized the importance of mutual visits.

Cooperation in education was also discussed. The Speaker expressed gratitude for the Chevening program and suggested opening English language courses and branches of British universities in Kyrgyzstan. He also highlighted the importance of work quotas for citizens of Kyrgyzstan in the UK and called for continued collaboration in this area.

Additionally, Mamataliev asked that proposals on deepening economic cooperation and removing sanctions-related barriers be communicated to London.

In turn, Ambassador Bowler stated that the UK prioritizes cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the region and noted the active development of bilateral relations in recent years.
