Russia and Kyrgyzstan have agreed on strategic cooperation in the energy sector. The decision was made on the sidelines of Energoprom Forum in Kazan, Tatar-inform news agency reported.
Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev signed a corresponding Memorandum of Understanding. The Russian official called the agreement strategic, fundamentally changing relations both domestically and internationally.
«This Memorandum of Understanding lays the foundation for the signing of a consolidated long-term contract for the supply of Russian-made electrical equipment to Kyrgyzstan,» he explained.
Sergei Tsivilev noted that manufacturers from Belarus and Kyrgyzstan are already represented at the forum, and expressed hope that all CIS countries will join it next year.
He declared his readiness to exchange technologies with partners, boost domestic production, and engage in the localization of factories «at our friends’ and vice versa,» calling this a huge step forward for the development of the industry.
