The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has submitted for public discussion amendments to the licensing rules for veterinary medicinal products.
Under the draft, requirements for businesses will not only be updated but also detailed and differentiated by type of activity — manufacturing, wholesale, and retail.
For manufacturers, mandatory standards are introduced for premises and equipment, including ventilation, water supply, waste disposal systems, autoclaves for sterilization, and storage facilities with a minimum area of 25 square meters.
For warehouses (wholesale trade), a minimum space of 20 square meters is required, along with mandatory refrigeration equipment for vaccines, temperature and humidity monitoring with daily records, and placement exclusively in isolated non-residential premises.
Veterinary pharmacies will be required to have a minimum area of 10 square meters, a designated customer service area, refrigeration units, and a separate space isolated from other types of activities.
Personnel requirements are also clarified, including relevant professional education and at least one year of work experience. A ban is introduced on storing veterinary drugs together with other chemical or biological substances.
The Cabinet of Ministers notes that the amendments aim to eliminate vague provisions and establish clear rules for businesses and regulatory authorities.
Overall, licensing in the veterinary pharmaceuticals sector is becoming more transparent and structured, while requirements for entrepreneurs are being significantly tightened — from storage conditions to equipment and staffing.
