Kumtor's net profit exceeded $1.77 billion in less than three years

In less than three years since transfer to the state, the net profit of Kumtor project exceeded $1.77 billion. The Chairman of the Cabinet Akylbek Japarov said at the meeting of the Parliament.

Deputies considered the report of the Cabinet of Ministers on the execution of the national budget for 2023.

«Thanks to the political will of Sadyr Japarov, evolutionary rather than revolutionary events have occurred in the mining industry. For the first time in 30 years, the economic, national and environmental interests of the Kyrgyz state have been effectively protected. 400 tons of gold have been produced for 27 years, and only $100 million in dividends have come from Kumtor. And today, for 2.5 years, 38 tons of gold have been produced and $291 million has been received as dividends, while tax and other payments to the budget over three years amounted to $990 million,» Akylbek Japarov said.

He also added that for the first time in the country’s history, 1 billion soms have been allocated for geological research, and mining enterprises have brought the country an income of 111 billion for three years.
