Head of Asian Football Confederation arrives in Bishkek and meets with Tashiev

The President of the Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU) Kamchybek Tashiev met with the head of the Asian Football Confederation Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, who arrived in Bishkek for a working visit.

The parties discussed the development of football in Kyrgyzstan.

Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa noted that football is of great importance for society, promoting unity and health of people. He also expressed hope for further and successful cooperation between the AFC and the KFU.

Kamchybek Tashiev told that the KFU has launched 18 new projects aimed at improving the conditions for football development in the country in 2024. They include the reconstruction of existing stadiums and the construction of new sports facilities in various regions. It is expected that 12 facilities will be commissioned by the end of the year.

According to him, the latest achievements of the national teams and the development of football infrastructure indicate that the KFU is actively working on the development of football in the country and sets ambitious goals for the near future.

The head of the AFC took part in the opening of the National Football Academy and the training base of Muras United Football Club.

«The national team of Kyrgyzstan has won a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup, which has become a historic achievement for the team. In addition, the team has reached the third qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup for the first time, where it will compete with strong opponents,» he noted.
