The bodies of two more people trapped under an avalanche were found in Chatkal district of Jalal-Abad region. This happened at 10.30 a.m. during search operations conducted early in the morning, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Recall, six people went missing in Chatkal after going to the mountains to collect herbs. 14 people left on October 9. The group headed to a remote area, then communication was lost. Relatives of the villagers turned to rescuers for help. Eight people were found, and six more were missing.
According to local residents, an avalanche descended in Ak-Sai mountains area on October 14. An Emergencies Ministry helicopter took off to search for the missing on October 18.
The bodies of three of them were found on October 18 and delivered by helicopter to the headquarters in Kumbel district. Earlier, rescuers found the body of a 46-year-old man. The search operations were carried out under the personal supervision of the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Boobek Azhikeev.
