The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports that citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, registered and residing in the state of Florida (USA), are not listed as victims of the strong hurricane Milton, which hit on October 9, 2024.
According to the Foreign Ministry, at least 16 people died as a result of the hurricane, and 3 million residents were left without electricity. The disaster caused significant damage, especially in the eastern part of the state.
According to available data, the number of citizens of Kyrgyzstan living in the state of Florida is about 100 people. The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the United States continues to maintain contact with compatriots and local authorities to promptly respond to any changes in the situation.
