New plan for protection of children's rights discussed in Kyrgyzstan

Children’s Rights Commissioner Asel Chynbaeva held a working meeting to finalize an action plan for implementation of the recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The event was organized jointly with UNICEF and brought together representatives of government agencies, local authorities, non-governmental organizations and international partners.

The purpose of the meeting is to develop specific steps to create a safe and supportive environment for children, where their opinions and rights will be taken into account.

It is important to create conditions, in which every child feels protected and heard.

Special attention is paid to improving access to education, increasing the level of social services and strengthening mechanisms for protecting children’s rights.

The opinions of all parties, including the children themselves, were taken into account in the process of preparing the plan. This meeting is especially significant, since this year marks the 30th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Based on the results of the discussions, a new action plan will be drawn up aimed at implementing UN recommendations and strengthening the national child protection system.
