Parliament calls on Turkey to increase quota for free treatment of Kyrgyzstanis

Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu met with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş. The parties discussed issues in the areas of developing political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Touching upon the issue of expanding established ties in the fields of education and healthcare, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu outlined the existing broad potential in these areas. Noting that due to the pandemic, the agreement on free treatment of 150 Kyrgyzstanis in Turkish hospitals was suspended, the Speaker proposed to resume the agreement and increase the quota to 500 people.

Speaking about trade and economic relations, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu also added that Turkey occupies a special place in the structure of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade.

«It is necessary to take significant steps to achieve the goal set by the heads of our states to increase trade turnover to $5 billion. In particular, it is necessary to create conditions for the export of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan to Turkey by eliminating technical barriers in bilateral trade,» the Speaker of Parliament said.

Today, April 28, a Memorandum on Interparliamentary Cooperation was signed between the Zhogorku Kenesh and the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey.
