The head of the Subsoil Development Department of the Kyrgyz Geological Service has been detained. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
The security services have uncovered a corruption scheme in the Ministry of Natural Resources when issuing licenses for the right to use subsoil.
It was found out that certain officials of the ministry, in collusion with the management of P.A.T. company, illegally transformed the license for the right to use subsoil for the purpose of geological exploration work for gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc and bismuth in violation of the requirements of the law.
The existing corruption scheme hindered the mining activities of bona fide enterprises, thereby negatively affecting the investment climate in this industry.
The head of the Subsoil Development Department of the Kyrgyz Geological Service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the former head of P.A.T. LLC have been detained and placed in the temporary detention facility.
By decision of the licensing commission, the license for the right to use subsoil with gold reserves of more than 10 tons was annulled and returned to the state.
