Kyrgyzstan achieves 100 percent registration of newborns

The Ministries of Digital Development, Health, and Labor have successfully implemented a program, under which 100 percent of newborns undergo state registration. The Minister of Digital Development Nuriya Kutnaeva announced at a press conference.

According to her, previously, from 7 to 10 percent of newborns did not receive a birth certificate in Kyrgyzstan in the first year of life for various reasons. This led to the fact that children were «invisible» to the state and could not receive the necessary state services, such as birth benefits, medical services, and enrollment in kindergartens and schools.

As part of the program, a system combining data from several government agencies was integrated in May 2024. Now information about newborns is automatically transferred to the Population Registration Department. If parents do not apply for a birth certificate within 60 days, social workers from the Ministry of Labor visit the family and remind them of the need to obtain documents.
