The Kyrgyzstani started from the 1/8 finals, where she defeated the second number in the world ranking from Mongolia, and then in the quarterfinals she snatched victory from the main favorite of her weight category, Nonoka Ozaki from Japan.
In the semifinals, Meerim Zhumanazarova competed with 35-year-old 13-time Africa’s champion Blessing Oborududu from Nigeria.
Recall, the Kyrgyzstani won a bronze medal at the Olympics in Tokyo.
This is the second medal of the team of Kyrgyzstan in Paris. Earlier, Zholaman Sharshenbekov won bronze at the Games.
