Kyrgyzstan plans to complete border delimitation and demarcation negotiations with Tajikistan in the next 2-3 months. Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev told reporters.
«The border is a very sensitive issue, negotiations are underway, we are comparing the positions of the parties. I think we will complete it in the next 2-3 months,» he said.
According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, the parties managed to agree on more than 90 percent of the border line between the two states.
The length of the state border between the republics is about 980 kilometers. Negotiations on its delimitation (determining the state border with a description of its passage and mapping) have been ongoing since December 2002.
In October 2022, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to help resolve the issue of border delimitation with Tajikistan.
