President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the Law «On Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic». The press service of the head of state reported.
The document was adopted by the Parliament on May 29, 2024. The purpose is to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court of December 28, 2022 on the case on verifying the constitutionality of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The adopted law sets out Article 178 of the Criminal Code in a new wording and, unlike the current one, is supplemented with an auxiliary qualification criterion, according to which criminal liability is established for parents’ evasion of payment on the basis of a court decision of funds for the maintenance of a child or adult, but disabled and in need of financial assistance children, as well as for concealment, underestimation of the amount of one’s wages and income equivalent to it by a person obliged to support a child, or adult but disabled children in need of financial assistance by a court decision, as well as evasion of employment.
