Kyrgyzstan is seeking non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council in 2027-2028. President Sadyr Japarov stated at a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
According to him, the Philippines, an opponent of the Kyrgyz Republic, has already become a non-permanent member of the Security Council four times and now wants to become one for the fifth time.
«The issue is being resolved in New York within the framework of a meeting of the UN General Assembly. There is hope that we will be supported,» the head of state said.
Earlier, at the General Debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Sadyr Japarov reported that Kyrgyzstan nominated its candidacy for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.
