A breakdown occurred at Bishkek heating and power plant (HPP) tonight. Telegram channels report.
According to preliminary data, one of the boilers exploded. Causes of the explosion are not yet known.
Many city residents this morning faced with a lack of hot water in their homes, and the temperature inside the premises also dropped significantly.
The largest breakdown at the capital’s HPP occurred on January 26, 2018. Residents complained about lukewarm radiators and a drop in temperature in their apartments, despite the fact that energy sector workers assured that the system was gradually starting to operate normally. The City Hall organized reception and accommodation centers for needy citizens. The Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case regarding the improper performance of their functions by officials.
A scandal broke out later regarding the modernization of the heating plant. Five criminal cases have been initiated. As part of the investigation, seven former top officials of the energy industry were arrested, including the former general director of Electric Stations OJSC Salaidin Avazov. All have been charged with corruption.
Charges of corruption were also brought against former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov, another ex-head of government Zhantoro Satybaldiev, and deputy of the Parliament from SDPK faction Osmonbek Artykbaev.
