Rally against arrival of fugitive President Kurmanbek Bakiyev held in Bishkek

A rally of members of public associations created after the April 2010 revolution takes place in the park named after Maxim Gorky in Bishkek.

Its participants noted that the fugitive president Kurmanbek Bakiyev is making various attempts to rehabilitate himself and return to Kyrgyzstan. According to them, earlier an appeal was sent to President Sadyr Japarov on behalf of the head of Aikol Taza Koom NGO Usupbiy Sherimbaev. In the letter, on behalf of the victims of the April events, widows and orphans, he asked for monetary compensation from Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

«What right does Usupbiy Sherimbaev have to this? Even those who faced a difficult fate, widows, orphans, mothers who lost their only sons, did not ask for compensation. Bakiyev shed the blood of the people, robbed the state, and we will not take his dirty money, even if prices are high in the country,» one of the rally participants said.

The protesters stressed that they were strongly against the arrival of the ousted president Kurmanbek Bakiyev in Kyrgyzstan.

A similar protest also took place in Bishkek in May. Then its participants asked to arrest Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

The fugitive president was sentenced to 24 years in prison by the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan.
