Israeli-Palestinian conflict: 40 journalists killed in war zone

As of November 10, the number of media workers killed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone reached at least 40 people. Committee to Protect Journalists provided such data.

They include 35 Palestinian, 4 Israeli and 1 Lebanese journalist.

«In addition to the confirmed 40 victims, it is reported about 8 wounded, 3 missing, 13 arrested journalists,» the organization noted.

The committee also noted that it is still investigating numerous reports of other journalists killed, missing, detained, injured, as well as damage to mass media offices. It also stresses that the period from Oct. 7 to Nov. 10 was the deadliest for journalists since the committee began collecting data in 1992.

«Journalists are civilians doing important work during a crisis and they should not be persecuted by warring parties,» said Sherif Mansour, Middle East and North Africa Program Coordinator at the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the Israel Defense Forces told Reuters and Agence France Press news agencies that it could not guarantee the safety of its journalists operating in the Gaza Strip after they requested assurances that their journalists would not be targeted by Israeli strikes.
