Hippodrome for equestrian games to be built in Kyrgyzstan

A hippodrome for equestrian games will be built in Kyrgyzstan. The President of the International Kok-Boru Association, Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev reported.

It is noted that the hippodrome will have 20,000 seats. It will be built on an area of 210 hectares. For this purpose, the Cabinet of Ministers will allocate a plot of land near Manas airport. «Last week, President Sadyr Japarov gave the task. The design of the new hippodrome was completed by the relevant employees. The issue of allocation of land near the traffic police post (western part of Bishkek) will be considered by the government next week,» Kurmankul Zulushev said.

Conditions for keeping horses and housing of workers and athletes will be created on the territory.

«President Sadyr Japarov said that if the unrest that occurred in Osh is repeated at kok-boru competition, tournaments at the state level will no longer be held,» Kurmankul Zulushev said.

Recall, the final of the President’s Kok-Boru Cup between Dostuk and Yntymak teams ended in riots in Osh region at Toloikon hippodrome. Footage taken by eyewitnesses shows how the ambulance was pelted with stones and all the windows were broken. The crowd also obstructed the movement of cars.

At the beginning of March 2023, Sadyr Japarov visited Ak-Kula hippodrome. He ordered to make a proposal to demolish the facility in order to begin construction of housing for mortgage lending in its place.
