Swimmers with Down syndrome won six medals at the All-Russian Special Olympics tournament «Let’s Win Together.» Olga Trukhanova, director of the First Children’s Hospice, told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, Kyrgyzstan participated in such large-scale competitions for the first time.
The country was represented by three athletes under the guidance of a coach Islam Turdiev: Aknazar Nurak uulu, Polina Maltseva and Aidin Dzhunushov. In total, they won 6 medals: 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze.
«The coach and athletes sincerely thank everyone who helped pay for the trip and made it possible to proudly raise the flag of Kyrgyzstan. Participation in the tournament was especially important, given that more than 200 people from different regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Italy took part in it,» the director of the hospice noted.
In mid-August Olga Trukhanova reported that swimmers with Down syndrome need help to go to competitions — about 160,000 soms.
