At year-end 2022, the number of people living below the poverty line reached 2,244.3 million people in Kyrgyzstan. «Kyrgyzstan in Figures» yearbook, which was prepared by the National Statistical Committee, provides such data.
The number of people living below the poverty line is 33.3 percent of the total population. Compared to 2021, the figure increased by 566,000 people, or 33.7 percent.
At least six percent of the country’s population lives in extreme poverty. The figure is 7.3 percent among the urban population and 5.3 percent — among the rural population.
