According to its data, dust storms occurred in Navoi, Bukhara and Samarkand regions on June 19 as a result of strong winds. They occur frequently in Uzbekistan, as well as in Central Asia and neighboring countries. Masses of sand and dust that rise into the air usually disperse and settle on the ground after the wind abates.
More than 40,000 households in four regions were cut off from electricity supply due to strong winds. According to the Ministry of Energy, several tens of thousands of households were disconnected from the power grid due to strong winds in Bukhara and Navoi regions.
Later, the ministry reported that by 6 p.m. due to strong winds in Pakhtachi and Koshrabat districts of Samarkand region, 9,000 households were left without electricity. As of 7 p.m., a total of 12,250 consumers were disconnected in Jizzakh, Farish, Arnasay, Dustlik, Sharaf-Rashidov, Gallyaaral and Pakhtakor districts of Jizzakh region.
