Kyrgyzstani Almaz Smanbekov won a silver medal at the Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship in Astana (Kazakhstan). United World Wrestling reports.
In the weight category up to 57 kilograms, Almaz Smanbekov defeated his rivals from Kazakhstan and Mongolia, but in the final he lost to an athlete from India with a score 4-9.
The athlete won a bronze medal at the Asian Championship in 2022, which was held in Mongolia.
Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling tournaments have already ended in Astana. The national team of Kyrgyzstan won ten medals.
